Grant making policy
The objects for which the Foundation was established are:
To support and advance research in the field of Diabetes and in particular Juvenile (insulin dependent) Diabetes in the United Kingdom and throughout the World and to provide material of an educational and informational nature to persons who are interested in and affected by Diabetes by means of consolidation of funds and centralised disbursement.
In fulfilment of these objects, it has adopted the policy of applying its charitable funds in support of research projects, with a preference for those relating to Juvenile Type 1 diabetes. It will only consider projects which have been peer reviewed, and which have been examined, and are supported by, a suitably constituted research committee, where applications for research grants are considered in competition with each other.
While it is open to applications from any source for support for research projects which meet these criteria, it is expected that such applications will normally come from Diabetes UK, or from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, both of which operate peer review and research committee systems.
